Jonathan's practice covers a wide range of project and infrastructure financings, in a range of BOT/PFI Public-Private-Partnerships in transportation, water desalination, energy, and renewable energy. He regularly advises project companies, banks and financial institutions in the development and financing of infrastructure projects. Jonathan has extensive experience and has been involved in many of the project financings in Israel and has been recognized by Chambers Global Guide for the fact that he has "excellent deal-making abilities, and can really help you to make commercial decisions - he is one of the top lawyers in this field, and is a pleasure to work with".

 

In the past, Jonathan was a project finance attorney at the New York law offices of Chadbourne and Parke LLP.

 

Among Jonathan's recent notable transactions are the representation of:

 

  • A consortium led by I.D.E Technologies Ltd. & Hutchison Water International Holdings Pte. Limited with respect to the award of the concession and the approximately 400 million Euro multi currency financing by the European Investment Bank, Bank Hapoalim B.M. and Bank Leumi Le-Israel B.M. of the design, finance, construction, operation, maintenance and transfer of a 150,000,000 M3/annum Seawater Desalination Facility at Sorek;
  • Israel Discount Bank Ltd. in financing of a PFI project for the upgrade and maintenance of approximately 250km of highways in the north of Israel for a period of 20 years;
  • Bank Hapoalim B.M. in financing of the first medium sized photo-voltaic project in Israel;
  • The institutional lenders financing the approximately NIS 2 bn 427MW dual fired combined-cycle power plant at Mishor Rotem, Israel;
  • The institutional lenders financing the approximately USD750 million Tamar natural gas field offshore Israel;
  • The institutional lenders in the provision of approximately NIS 800 million mezzanine finance for Derech Eretz Highways (1997) Ltd.;
  • The Lenders financing a 490MW hydroelectricy pumped-storage power plant at Ma'ale Gilboa, Israel;
  • A group of institutional lenders financing a telecommunications satellite known as "Amos 5". The deal was honored as "Deal of the Year - 2009" by Project Finance Magazine;
  • The lenders financing a 100,000,000 M3/annum Seawater Desalination Facility in Ashdod, Israel;
  • Dalia Power Energies Ltd. in the development of 850MW natural gas fired power plant in the south of Israel;
  • A consortium led by Siemens AG and Africa Israel Investments Ltd., in the $2 billion development of the first line of the Tel Aviv Light Rail Project;
  • Derech Eretz Highways (1997) Ltd. in the $200 million development of a northern extension to Highway 6 (the Cross Israel Highway);
  • Bank Hapoalim B.M. and a consortium of banks and financial institutions in the 1.8 billion NIS financing of Highway 431. The deal was honored as "Deal of the Year" by Project Finance Magazine;
  • Derech Eretz Highways (1997) Ltd. in the financing of the $1.4 billion Cross Israel Highway. The Cross Israel Highway employs a state-of-the-art electronic toll collection system and is the country's first toll road. As Israel's first project financed infrastructure project, this deal was honored as "deal of the year" by both Project Finance magazine and Project Finance International.
